Bassoon
Baroque Bassoon
After toying with the idea for forty years, I finally acquired a baroque bassoon in December of 2014. It is a copy by Guntram Wolf, Kronach, Germany, of a Scherer original in the company's collection:
This baroque bassoon is made of flamed mountain maple, has five silver-plated brass keys, and is pitched at a'=415 Hz. Depending on the reed, it produces a warm, rather 'nutty' sound, especially in the bass register. But it has a very nice tenor register as well.
